Paedophile Ronald Carver "Banned" from the Internet

A child porn pervert from Waddon has been spared jail despite being caught with more than 150 harrowing pictures of children on his computer.

Ronald Carver was warned today if he is caught using the internet again in the next three years he will be sent to prison.

But the judge at Croydon Crown Court stopped short of sending him to jail straight away, instead handing down a three year community order.

Carver, 59, admitted downloading the indecent images at today's hearing.

Prosecuting, Penelope Blake said police raided his home in Waddon Way, Waddon, on November 6 last year and took away his laptop.

This was found to have more than 50,800 pictures of various kinds, as well as 65 video files.

Of these, 151 images related to child pornography.

Miss Paramjit Ahluwalia, defending, said Carver had been co-operative with the police in their inquiries.

Judge Simon Pratt directed that Carver must not go on the internet on any computer until further notice and added: "I regard this as necessary for the prevention of the repetition of this kind of behaviour.

" If he does, he will be liable to a maximum sentence of five years imprisonment."

He told Carver: "The commission of these offences perpetuates a world-wide evil.

"Don't believe it has no victim, because that is not so".

The judge said that Carver could apply to the court for revocation of the internet order after three years if he could show it was no longer necessary.

The computer, the hard drive and all the material will be destroyed.
