Ex-police officer Cymon Palvolgyi admits child porn charges
An ex-police officer who resigned after being arrested for downloading child porn from the internet has admitted charges going back more than six years ago.
Cymon Palvolgyi, aged 42, pleaded guilty at Northampton Crown Court yesterday to making and possessing abusive images of children between June 2002 and last August.
Speaking in a barely audible whisper, the disgraced officer, formerly from Northampton, admitted nine charges relating to 10 videos found on his home computer and various discs.
At the time of his arrest in August last year, he was employed as a detective constable with Bedfordshire Police's economic crime unit based at Luton Police Station.
A Bedfordshire Police spokesman yesterday confirmed he resigned from the force soon after his arrest, so any convictions would now be unlikely to affect his police pension.
Russell Eaton, defending, asked the judge to postpone sentencing to allow for a pre-sentence report into his background and to look into any risk of further offending.
Judge Charles Wide QC agreed but warned Palvolgyi he is now at risk of a prison sentence.
The charges relate to 10 child porn videos which were found on his home computer after Northamptonshire Police officers executed a search warrant and raided his Northampton home on Thursday, August 28, last year.
Forensic analysis of the computer and discs discovered the videos, six of which are classed at the second highest level showing children being sexually abused by adults.
The court heard Palvolgyi, now of Northfield Road, Aylesbury, made extensive admissions during more than three hours of police interviews.
Judge Wide released him on bail, on condition he co-operates with the Probation Service, until a sentencing hearing in May.
Bearded Palvolgyi, who attended court alone, made no comment other than to confirm his name and guilty pleas to all the charges.
