Former town Mayor Stewart Brown appears in court

A former mayor of Hebden Royd appeared in court today in relation to child porn offences.
Stewart Brown, 60, of Nutclough, Hebden Bridge, has been charged with 22 offences of possession of indecent images of children.

He appeared at Dewsbury and Batley Magistrates before the district judge Andrew Hatton.

The case was adjourned until December 10.

Brown was released on unconditional bail until the next hearing.

He was a candidate for the Elland ward in May's council elections.

He represented the Calder Valley on Calderdale Council between 1996 and 2000 and was Mayor of Hebden Royd in 2006.
