Headteacher Joseph Murray kept child porn on school computer

A former headteacher of a primary school kept graphic child porn on his school computer.

Joseph Murray, 44, admitted to searching the internet for "pre-teen" porn and downloading images and video clips at Greenwich Magistrates' Court - he also admitted performing a sex act on himself "while watching images of children dressed provocatively." In total, Murray admitted nine counts of making indecent images of children and one count of failing to surrender.

He was in charge of Hither Green Primary School responsible for 300 four to seven-year-olds from January to June this year as an interim head.

Murray's sick activities may have continued, even escalated were it not for a technician who found the deleted files.

Last Wednesday Murray, of Crofton Park Road, Lewisham, denied downloading any videos or pictures of children having sex with adults. Speaking in court Wendy Dennis, prosecuting, said he asked to be reinterviewed on June 22 because he ?hadn?t been entirely truthful".

Parents outside the court complained that he was ?too touchy-feely? with the children.

Speaking to the South London Press one said:

"He went on holiday with them only a week or so after coming to the school. "

"He was taking pictures of the kids in their swimming costumes and the boys always said they thought the way he treated the girls was inappropriate."

Parents also claimed he was in charge of the girls' and boys' football training at weekends.

Both the school and Lewisham council have refused to comment.
