MySpace conman jailed
Conman Frazer Rogers was jailed for three years this week, for fleecing thousands from bedridden Alison Eyers, 23, targeted through the social networking website, MySpace.
Eyers, 23, who suffers from intracranial hypertension, a swelling of the brain, was persuaded to provide Rogers with her bank card and credit card. The prosecutor, Philip Lee, told Truro Crown Court that Eyers was friendless, lonely and desperate not to lose Rogers. Mr Lee added, "She did not have spare money. Rogers knew this. She attempted to overdose three or four times due to the stress of the accruing debts on his behalf."
Jeremy Leaning, defending, cited Rogers' addiction to cocaine and desire to fund his habit as the reason for his behaviour. Judge Christopher Elwen described the crime as "mean-spirited, wicked and ruthless".
