Sailor Paul Opie jailed for filming shipmates in showers
A sailor who cut holes in a shower block to film his female shipmates was jailed for two years yesterday.
Petty Officer Paul Opie dug through the ceiling and walls to video the Wrens on his mobile - but filmed his own face in one clip.
'The outrage and distress which your victims felt is both obvious and understandable,' said Judge Francis Gilbert at Plymouth Crown Court.
Police investigating child porn offences found the films on his computer.
The 36-year-old admitted seven voyeurism counts at naval base HMS Drake in Plymouth, Devon, and faces being thrown out of the Royal Navy.
The HMS Ocean engineer also admitted eight unrelated offences of making or possessing child porn.
Mr Nick Lewin, defending, said Opie had already lost his family and would now lose his career and his pension.
