Shamed Vicar Faces Jail over Child Porn
A disgraced South Yorkshire vicar who admitted making indecent photos of children and possessing videos of child porn has been warned he could end up behind bars.
The Rev Adrian Fereday, 50, admitted at Sheffield Crown Court 16 offences of making indecent photographs of children and one of possessing six indecent videos of youngsters.
Fereday, who had been living at his family home on Barker Hades Road, Letwell, near Rotherham, was responsible for the parishes of Woodsetts, Firbeck and Letwell.
The father-of-two, now of Stoke on Trent, had been suspended by the Diocese of Sheffield pending the outcome of the hearing.
Barrister Robert Smith asked for the case to be adjourned for the preparation of a pre-sentence report and a psychiatric report because of a background which would be "fully explained". He said Fereday was in the process of getting divorced and asked for a bail condition, which allowed Fereday only supervised access to his two teenage sons, to be removed.
But the Recorder of Sheffield Judge Alan Goldsack QC declined the application and adjourned the case for three weeks, warning Fereday that he could go to jail.
