Ex-soldier Robert Ramm gets Suspended Jail Term

Police acting on a tip-off from paramedics found nearly 2,500 indecent images of children on an ex-soldier's computer.

The net began to close on pervert Robert Ernest Ramm (61) after he called 999 for help following a fall at his home in Aynsley Road, Doddington Park, Lincoln.

When paramedics lifted Ramm on to his bed they noticed pictures of young girls in "provocative poses" on his bedside table, Lincoln Magistrates' Court heard.

Police seized Ramm's computer and found a total of 2,494 indecent images ? 47 of which were of the second highest category of depravity.

Ramm, who did four tours of Northern Ireland in the Army and has post-traumatic stress disorder, admitted eight charges of making indecent pictures between June 2006 and July last year, plus two counts of possessing indecent pictures on July 24, 2007.

He was given a suspended 20-week jail sentence for each charge, to run concurrently.

Ramm will spend two years on a sexual offenders' rehabilitation programme and will have to regularly report his whereabouts to the police for the next seven years.

"If people like you did not download such images, children would not suffer the abuse they do at the hands of those who produce this material," District Judge Richard Blake told Ramm.
