Spanish Police Arrest 121 in Child Porn Raids
Spanish police say they have arrested 121 people in what they describe is the biggest crackdown on child pornography ever in the country. A police statement said they have uncovered a network that distributed child pornography files across around 75 countries.
The statement said Brazilian police helped with the operation. It says two of the detained produced the pornography and used members of their own families.
Over 800 Spanish police raided 250 homes across the country to smash a network swapping files, some showing images of an extreme nature, the police said in a news release.
Those arrested included pilots and taxi drivers and they ranged from old-age pensioners to minors. In two cases, suspects had abused their own family members, it said.
Spanish authorities said they have arrested more than 1,200 people in connection with child pornography on the Internet in the last five years.
