Dad Iain McKinlay 'accessed child porn because he had OCD'
A father-of-three claims he downloaded thousands of child porn images because he suffered from obsessive compulsive disorder.
Police tracked down Iain McKinlay, 34, after he used a credit card which was registered in his name to buy access to child porn websites.
Officers raided his home and found two computers with sickening images of children on them ? some of the youngsters in the pictures were just months old.
McKinlay separated from his wife following the discovery and is now supervised during visits with his children. He later admitted taking indecent pictures of children or allowing such images to be taken or made.
McKinlay told psychiatrists that he had been suffering from OCD.
His lawyer said he was a "complete wreck" who was "almost suicidal" over the child porn shame but yesterday at Edinburgh Sheriff Court he was jailed for nine months.
Sheriff Noble had earlier heard how Lothian and Borders officers raided an address in South Queensferry's Stewart Clark Avenue in April last year.
McKinlay, of Philpingstone Road, Bo'ness, was placed on the sex offenders register for ten years.
