Frequently Asked Questions
What is an All Users Account?
Once Sentry Parental Controls is installed on your child's computer, the SmartAgent automatically creates two default Sentry Parental Controls accounts.
The "Administrative? account is created during the installation process for the parent who installed the software. Once created, it could appear either with your name, as Administrator, or as Owner. You can always edit the name of this account by clicking on the "View/Edit" button.
The 'ALL USERS' account enables the SmartAgent to fall back to this account if it does not recognize the User who logged into the computer. This is a precaution in case you don't register each computer user separately.
The "All Users" account is pre-set to security Level 1, which is the most restrictive setting- Blocks, Filters and Monitors all online activities. If you want your children to have a unique account so you can track what they are doing separately, you must register them individually. For instructions on how to register users with Sentry Parental Controls see our FAQ - How do I register Users individually?
For example, if you have 4 Windows accounts already on your computer and you don?t register each user with Sentry Parental Controls, the users who login through their login account, will default to the All Users Accounts. This is fine if you have all young children in the house and you want to prevent them from stumbling into inappropriate content. Be certain that your children do not log onto the computer using your login account.
