Installing Sentry Parental Controls

This page will help you through the installation process. Most of the links within this page will open up a screenshot of that particular step in the walkthrough.

When filling out the form on the trial page or when you have purchased Sentry Parental Controls, you will receive an email with the URL (web site address) to download the Sentry Parental Controls installation file. When doing so you will be asked to download it:

Once you have downloaded the file, double click the icon [screenshot] which will start the installation process. If you are asked a security question about opening the file, click RUN:

Starting with the welcome "splash" screen [screenshot] , you will then be taken through the terms and conditions. Once you accept them, the installation will proceed. Once all of the relevant files are copied, you will be asked to restart the computer [screenshot] .

Once the computer has been restarted you will be taken through the rest of the installation.

Step 1 will ask you to enter your email and password given to you in the email you will have received.
N.B. If you ordered Sentry Parental Controls as a boxed product, merely enter your email address and create your own password, ensuring that it is longer than 4 characters.


Step 2 will ask you to enter one of your license keys to use. Your license keys may or may not already appear in the available licenses box. If they are, simply select which license you wish to use.

Step 3 will simply ask you to enter a Computer Name. This is just so that you can identify each computer when logging into your web control panel.

Step 4 lets you view all the Windows Accounts on that computer. You can also add new Windows Accounts to the computer by clicking the button on the left of the screen. You can also select whether you want to Block or Monitor each of these accounts. You can change this setting later within the User Settings .

Step 5 asks you to enter personal information that you may not want your child passing on on the Internet or within IM chat sessions. You must enter each detail for each user. However, you can apply the same information for every user later on wihtin the Advanced Options page.
N.B. We will not use this information for any other purpose other than to hide it from strangers.

Once this step is done installation will be complete and you will now be able to log in!
